April 2016

This spring we have gotten used to just going with the flow of the weather...sun, rain, or snow. A somewhat new love at the park is the tire swing. I don't have the best memories of tire swings growing up (I was a timid child), so I was impressed with their guts! Then again, maybe I'm a timid tire swing pusher.

Isla and Micah enjoyed a playdate at their friend Claire's house.

I was trying to get a picture of Isla jumping, something that she has been working on and enjoying lately.

One Saturday in April we explored a new pond/walking path called Crown Hill. The kids enjoyed the dogs and sticks the most.

Our friends from the ward invited us to their annual egg derby. Though our eggs didn't have the best showing, it was fun to participate!

For some reason, I often take pictures of the kids on Sunday - probably because they usually have relatively clean faces and are wearing clothes that actually go together, which isn't always the case.

We had a great time meeting our new beautiful Skidmore niece/cousin!

Micah didn't really have much interest in the new baby, but Isla loved holding her and kissing her! She loves babies! We are hoping this continues when our new little girl makes her debut!

We usually try to make it to the library once a week and this particular time it wasn't too busy, which isn't aways the case. So the kids took some time to sit and read books they had picked out. It was fun to see them show each other the pictures.

Isla had been getting frustrated when the sun was in her eyes in the car, so we invested in some sunglasses. I'm not sure how much it helps with the problem, but she likes them at least. I don't know what it is about little kids in sunglasses, but I always feel like I need to take a picture!

We had a great time during the last weekend in April when Grandma and Grandpa Skidmore came out for the baby blessing. They treated us to Red Robin and the kids were so excited to get some balloon animals!

Our stake held roadshows and our ward did The Pout-Pout Fish. Michael was a Jamaican jellyfish and did a great job singing Don't Worry, Be Happy! We were all impressed to see how his accent transformed over the weeks of rehearsals from Russian Jamaican to Mexican Jamaican to finally sounding like he was from the island! (And yes, he did watch a few clips from Cool Runnings for help!)

Fun at the Skidmore's house with Grandma and Grandpa Skidmore and cousins!

March 2016

Funny Faces

 Hiking at Red Rocks
One Tuesday morning we didn't have anything going on, so we ventured to Red Rocks for a little hike. It was a little colder and longer than we anticipated, but we had a lot of fun!

Micah digging for dinosaur bones!

You can't really see them, but across the road there were 6-8 deer hanging out. They eventually jumped over the fence and went on their way. It was pretty cool!
Pi Day Party
Our friends had a pi day party and the kids played, "go fishing in whip cream to find the gummies!"

 "Roar! I'm a dragon!"
March 2016 Blizzard!
This is from the day after the crazy blizzard. Though we only got 6-8 inches, watching it out the window really made us feel like we were in a blizzard!

The weather was beautiful the next day, so we ventured out for a walk!

Isla insisted on visiting the swings. It was a bit of work to get to them, but she thought it was totally worth it!

 And Micah enjoyed the slide.

Our neighbors/landlords shoveled (embarrassingly, we do not even own a shovel...#rentersforlife) and made a big pile of snow for the kids to play on. The last of it melted yesterday!

Easter
Egg hunt #1 - with our playgroup

Egg hunt #2 - ward activity

Egg hunt #3 - at home

Michael had a really busy month at work, but luckily got to spend a lot of Easter weekend with us. Here they are dyeing eggs!

Isla loves to dance. She is always busting' a move, though usually with clothes on!

 Easter Sunday

Making the bunny cake with dad

 She approves!

 I think he does too!

"I love finding my left over stale sandwich from lunch is still on the table after I wake up from my nap!"

February 2016

At the beginning of February we found out that our new little darling, due June 18th, is a girl! We are very excited!

Also at the beginning of February, we enjoyed a nice snow storm. Micah loves snow and never seems to get cold when he gets to play in it! (Unless, of course, he remembers he might get hot chocolate if he comes in saying he's freezing.)

Isla enjoys watching Micah play in the snow from the comfort and warmth of inside.

One Saturday Micah decided he wasn't tired enough to take a nap, so instead he went on a run with dad. He made it all the way around the pond!

Free day at the zoo!

Going fishing at Belmar Park.

Micah and Isla are always looking for sticks. This one was bigger than most they find.

Micah conquered the rope climbs at the play structure at Belmar Park. He was pretty excited! He did a great job!
